Muse 2 EEG during the MR session β€” 1 CSV row per second. Band powers use a rolling 5 s feature window.

Two scopes

Frontal = mean of AF7 & AF8. All = mean of TP9, TP10, AF7 & AF8. Each scope has its own metrics and its own 60 s baseline.

Z-scores (_Z columns)

Within-person standard scores: (value βˆ’ baseline mean) Γ· baseline SD, from the first 60 s after the window is full. Fixed at 0 until BaselineReady = 1.

Engagement index

Beta Γ· (Alpha + Theta), then 5 s smoothed and clamped 0–1. Higher values suggest relatively more beta vs relaxed (alpha/theta) rhythms.

🧠 Frontal metrics (AF7 + AF8)

Frontal_Delta_Avg

Mean delta (0.5–4 Hz) power over 5 s, averaged across AF7 and AF8. Associated with deep sleep / low arousal.

Frontal_Theta_Avg

Mean theta (4–8 Hz) power over 5 s, AF7 & AF8. Often linked to drowsiness, memory, or internal focus.

Frontal_Alpha_Avg

Mean alpha (8–12 Hz) power over 5 s, AF7 & AF8. Often increases when relaxed with eyes closed.

Frontal_Beta_Avg

Mean beta (13–30 Hz) power over 5 s, AF7 & AF8. Often associated with active thinking and alertness.

Frontal_BetaAlphaTheta_Ratio

Beta Γ· (Alpha + Theta) from frontal sensors. Raw engagement-related ratio before smoothing.

Frontal_BetaAlphaTheta_Z

Z-score of the ratio vs that participant’s 60 s frontal baseline.
